Sixth form students celebrate A-level and post-16 results
Students from Sigma Sixth Colchester and Sigma Sixth Tendring have been celebrating their post-16 results.

Sigma Sixth Colchester
Students at Sigma Sixth Colchester have been praised following the publication of their A-levels and BTEC Sports Coaching and Development awards.
The expanding sixth form facility, based at Philip Morant School and College, offered history, geography and media studies for the first time alongside their STEM Academy and BTEC Sport studies.
Headteacher Stephanie Neill said: “We are a rapidly growing sixth form provision but one where we know our students well.
“It is exciting to see the futures planned for so many of them and to know that they have achieved the outcomes they need to live their dreams.
“From opportunities in the UK to abroad, from university places to exciting careers, they have all carved out their path and it has been a privilege to support them with that.”
Notable achievements included Harley Heading who celebrated a remarkable 5 A-levels at grades AABBC and is now going to study Physics at Leicester University.
Erin Roan achieved AAB and is now off to Southampton to study Mathematics while Demelsa Majonga’s ABB means they will now study Pharmacy.
Emily Stephenson and Isabel Eagland have been part of Sigma Sixth Colchester’s Sports Academy studying A-levels and both will now study psychology with sport at university.
Freia Challis is in the Olympic development programme as she moves from the junior to senior age group in BMX. Alongside this, she has completed her studies at Sigma Sixth with a triple distinction* in sports coaching and development.
Ronnie Lawrence has completed his studies with a triple distinction* in sports coaching and development. He is now studying exercise science at Nebraska University on a football scholarship.
Matt Tootill completed his A-levels alongside his rugby achievements as captain for Sigma Sixth and the Vice-Captain of Ireland in the U19 rugby league European Championships. Matt has been completing A levels at Sigma Sixth alongside his rugby. He has achieved Cs in Business Studies and PE and is off to St Mary’s Twickenham to study Sports Performance Analysis and Talent Identification.
Sigma Sixth Tendring
Sigma Sixth Tendring is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its Year 13 students as they receive their A-level, vocational and T-level results.
The dedicate cohort has successfully secured a diverse range of next steps, ranging from prestigious university placements to competitive degree apprenticeships and direct entry into the professional world.
Sarah McKarry, Head of College at Sigma Sixth Tendring, said the results reflected the resilience and academic commitment that have become hallmarks of this year's graduating class.
She said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 cohort today. They have been consistently dedicated to their studies but have also demonstrated a great sense of character.
“These qualifications will open doors. But it is their adaptability, work ethic and determination that will truly define their future success. They have been an absolute pleasure to teach.”
Among the highest academic achievers this year was Theo Vine, who secured A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology and his Extended Project, earning a place to read Mathematics at the University of Warwick.
Joining him at Warwick is Betsy Gladden, who will study Psychology after achieving A*s in Law and her EPQ.
Other notable successes include Teigan Beynon, who will read Philosophy and English at the University of East Anglia; Rose Popkin, who is heading to King’s College London to study English; and Immanuel Moses, who secured a place at the University of Exeter to read Economics.
Beyond traditional academic pathways, the college is equally proud of the variety of professional and vocational routes chosen by its students.
Zakk Wakely is set to study Physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia and Lucie Pile will begin her training in Primary Education at Anglia Ruskin University.
Demonstrating the breadth of student aspirations, Samuel Hahn has secured a place in Pilot Studies at Kingston University, while Adam Taylor will begin a professional apprenticeship with Tendring Council.
Deputy Head of College, Simon Dale, added: “Congratulations to our Year 13 students. These results reflect their hard work, as well as the tireless support of our teaching staff and families.
“We are immensely proud of all they have achieved and look forward to hearing about their future successes."
