Paxman Academy has achieved a ‘Good’ rating after its first ever Ofsted report.

Paxman Academy also provided a good range of extra-curricular clubs and trips while students enjoyed attending the school, which opened in

Staff were praised for paying careful attention to what pupils know and can do, making sure that pupils’ learning builds on what they have learned before.

Inspectors also praised the support for pupils with SEND with the appointment of more people to the SEND and pastoral teams – supporting pupils “remarkably well”.

Reacting to the news, Fiona Pierson, Executive Headteacher at Paxman Academy, said:

“I am incredibly proud that the tireless hard work undertaken by everyone at Paxman Academy has been officially recognised and that our wonderful students now have yet another reason to be proud of our learning community.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the inspection itself, especially staff, members of The Sigma Trust, Governors, parents and our students who shone during the inspection process and continue to impress us every day.

This ‘Good’ rating is truly transformational for our Academy and I am delighted that Paxman Academy’s journey of improvement, investment and growth has been recognised.

The decision of the Ofsted inspection team to rate our Academy as ‘Good’ in all areas and to release our report so quickly, demonstrates their confidence in their decision and that we have built a community with high expectations.

We will not slow down; everything we do is for the benefit of our students as we help them to build a brighter future, and it is this passion and dedication to our young people that shone through so clearly during our inspection.

I would like to thank all parents/carers for their support which has contributed greatly to our successes so far.

Families of students who are approaching the end of their five-year journey will have seen first-hand how much our Academy has changed over recent years and this would not have happened without the strong relationships we have built with you all.”
