Sigma Trust is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Ambition Institute to create an Initial Teacher Training programme.

Led by Ambition Institute, working alongside a total of 11 educational partners, the programme will bring even more ambitious and committed teachers into the schools that need them the most and provide the best possible start to a fulfilling career in education.

As a founding partner, Sigma Trust and others will help develop a new training offer, contributing their expertise and experience so that trainee teachers can have an impact in their classrooms from the outset.

Lyn Wright, Chief Executive at The Sigma Trust, said: “Children deserve high quality teaching. This partnership will be a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the teacher workforce and help with teacher retention.

“We will be producing exceptional teachers for all our schools within the local communities we serve. It’s not just a route into teaching. It’s the beginning of a professional development pathway for teachers, from their initial training through to their early years and into senior leadership.

“Partnering with Ambition makes perfect sense for continuity of that pathway. We really value the deep research and educational theory that underpins Ambition’s materials and delivery. As a founding partner on ITT, we are excited to help to shape the programme, to ensure a high level of learning for children.”

Ambition Institute this week announced five new partners for the training programme – Sigma Trust joining Active Learning Trust, Dixons Academies Trust, Eden Academy Trust and Learning in Harmony Trust.

They will be joining the previously announced founding partners on the inaugural Teacher Training programme: Academy Transformation Trust, Cumbria Education Trust, Forward as One, Lime Trust, London District East Teaching School Hub and Teach Kent and Sussex.

Each partner brings crucial local knowledge and strong relationships in their communities and regions, and experience of delivering or hosting teacher training.
