Working for us
The Sigma Trust is committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that we work with. As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practice across the schools.
To be ‘Greater than the sum of its parts’ represents the mission statement for The Sigma Trust. We believe we are stronger and more successful working together than we would be as separate institutions. This objective cannot be achieved without hard-working, passionate staff who believe in our values of integrity, passion, aspiration, resilience, accountability and respect.
With approximately 1600 staff across twelve schools, covering the nursery phase through to early years and all the stages up to and including further education there are plenty of opportunities in our Trust schools, for like-minded enthusiastic staff who want to make a difference.
As the largest multi-academy trust in Essex, our schools are all geographically close in proximity to ensure that we are able to both give and receive support to and from one another, with the same core principles and beliefs.
Why choose a career with The Sigma Trust?
As a single employer we work hard to ensure consistency of processes and practices, recognise continuous service, follow national Conditions of Service and employees are encouraged to develop with opportunities to work across more than one school.
These beliefs are embedded in our vision and values:
As a Trust, our recruitment policy outlines that we are committed to:
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety, and the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, of children and young people
- Promoting equality of opportunity and community cohesion where the diversity of different backgrounds and circumstances is appreciated and positively valued;
- Promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs.
and expect all staff, volunteers and other workers to share this commitment.
It is recognised that this can only be achieved through sound procedures, good inter-agency co-operation and the recruitment and retention of competent, motivated employees who are suited to, and fulfilled in the roles they undertake.
We recognise the value of, and seek to achieve a diverse workforce which includes people from different backgrounds, with different skills and abilities. We are committed to ensuring that the recruitment and selection of all is conducted in a manner that is systematic, efficient, effective and promotes equality of opportunity. Selection will be on the basis of merit and ability, assessed against the qualifications, skills and competencies required to do the job. We will uphold obligations under law and national collective agreements to not discriminate against applicants for employment on the grounds of the protected characteristics of age, sex, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy, gender re-assignment, disability or health, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic origin), religion or belief.
If you have the same principles and want to be part of this family of local schools, details of employment opportunities are regularly advertised on the TES website and Essex Schools jobs websites.
