A new educational partnership will pave the way for increased teacher training opportunities across three Essex areas.
Advance Teacher Training has been launched and will run programmes in Tendring, Colchester and, for the first time, Braintree.
Advance will work in partnership with the renowned Ambition Institute to design and develop the teacher training programme.
Dr Sarah Alix said: “We are hugely excited to launch Advance Teacher Training and look forward to building on all the good work carried out by its predecessor, North Essex Teacher Training.
“Our new look teacher training programme will ensure trainee teachers can have an impact from the first moment they step inside their new classroom.
“We really value the deep research and educational theory that underpins Ambition Institute’s programmes and this, coupled with our years of experience successfully delivering initial teacher training, will make for a strong partnership that will benefit all.”
Under the new partnership, Advance Teacher Training will work with 11 educational partners to provide trainee teachers with the best possible start to a fulfilling career in education.
As with NETT, Advance Teacher Training will come under the leadership of the Sigma Trust.
Lyn Wright, Chief Executive of the trust, said: “Children deserve high quality teaching and this partnership will be a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the teacher workforce and help with teacher retention. This is not just a route into teaching. It’s the beginning of a professional development pathway for teachers, from their initial training through to their early years and into senior leadership.
“Partnering with Ambition makes perfect sense for continuity of that pathway and we are excited to help to shape the programme, to ensure a high level of learning for children.”
