Monkwick Infant & Nursery School
Monkwick Infant and Nursery School is situated in Colchester in the ward of Berechurch. We are a thriving and happy two form entry Infant and Nursery school where we work hard to support all the children in our care.
Most of our pupils live locally but since expanding we are admitting pupils from across Colchester. We have two nursery rooms, one for two year olds supporting those families in need, and then a three year old room accessible to all.
We believe that our children learn best when home and school work together and so offer lots of support to our families too. Many of our families face considerable challenges. We welcome our parents and carers into school and have an ‘open door’ approach where we hope we can always listen, help or signpost.
We have a highly skilled and experienced team who are committed to the education and wellbeing of children. We have recently expanded and have a fantastic new building where our early years children begin their learning. This has been an exciting development for us and has led to a very positive remodelling of the site.
We work with many outside agencies to support our families and pupils such as the school nursing team and health visitors, speech and language service, children’s services and our local children’s centre.
As a school we have strong community links with other schools such as membership of the Colchester schools consortium and as part of the SIGMA Trust with our Junior school. We have a positive relationship and good level of engagement with the local authority as well as the work we do within the academy.
